According to Ayurveda, the 5000-year-old Science of Life established in India, each of us inherits a unique proportion of three mind/body principles called doshas. The three doshas, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, create our specific mental and physical characteristics.

Ayurveda's goal is to help us help ourselves to re-balance and restore health.

To that end it teaches a proactive approach to avoiding illness: fresh food, daily exercise, relaxation/stress reduction, and regular cleansing. According to Ayurveda, the five elements (space, air, fire, water, and earth) are manifest uniquely in each of us to give us our physical and mental qualities. These five basic elements then combine into the three constitutions or doshas. At Villa Astra we use special oils to balance the doshas.
