Villa Astra Restaurant - Principles

Villa Astra cuisine is soundly based on the finest local and regional produce in season, classical technique allied to a light, creative touch and care for the guest’s wellbeing. Specialities include wild asparagus in Spring, famously sweet, plump langoustines washed in the waters of Mount Ucka, line-caught local fish, island lamb and sheep’s cheeses, cherries and chestnuts from nearby hills. Kvarner cuisine is less well known than it should be but at its best combines the rural sophistication of Istria with the coastal diversity of Dalmatia. At Villa Astra the local produce is particularly celebrated in the four wellbeing menus.

Wines

At Villa Astra we select only the finest examples: of Malvasia and dessert wines from Istria; racy dry Zlahtina from island Krk; dry, red Dingac and full, rich Plavac from Dalmatia. For those who prefer classic European styles, an equally selective approach is applied to the wines of France, Austria and Italy. And like all fine Kvarner tables, particular care is taken with waters and digestifs.
